Wonderful photographs. I love the hand colored details. Thank you for sharing these pictures and drawings of Ma... until I can read the book...

Did she ever communicate with you other than through drawings after her stroke?
Or was her verbal communication gone completely?

  1. Kandinsky said that 'Art is a matter of internal necessity.' This is how Ma drew, not even to communicate with me.
    We communicated thoroughly...telepathy, facial expressions, gestures, attitude.
    Others were often amazed at how we understood each other.
    She couldn't formulate words by voice or writing, but the intonation of her 'MA, Ma, Ma.' 's spoke volumes.
    Because she knew I understood her, she had no frustration about that and even took control thereby.
    She ruled the roost and scolded me if I didn't meet her standards. Like any good mother!
